Oloni Johnsons deputy in Akwelak denied allegations that he was killed in clashes with opposition groups led by General Simon Gedwich in Upper Nile State.
In June the SPLM-IG and Kit-Gwang-Agwelek opposition forces said they had begun implementing security measures. But months of clashes followed after Gedwich and Oloni signed a peace deal with the SPLM-IG in Khartoum earlier this year. Angui is said to have lost his life last month in a battle in Tonga where he was appointed commander of Akweleks army. Angui denied the allegations in response to claims that he was very much alive.
In an exclusive interview with iRadio the rumor mongers on social media said I am dead and a liar and not telling the truth. Im fine and I'm fine. They are alive when I spoke to you we fought them at Dill Phangak and drove them out and now they are in Tonja. iRadio could not independently verify the allegations.
But Git-Gwang groups are engaged in intense fighting with humanitarian organizations concerned about the plight of thousands of IPDOs who are victims of conflict in the forest. The United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA has complained that thousands of displaced people have not been able to reach the affected areas due to violent clashes and road blockades. The two sides clashed again on Monday.
